I have over twenty-five years’ experience working in the field of well-being as a mental health professional supporting clients with a variety of emotional and psychological difficulties. I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse client demographic and as a result I harbour a deep appreciation of the uniqueness and individuality of my clients and the issues they bring to therapy. My approach to therapy is to respond to my clients as unique individuals and as such over the years I have developed skills that enable me to utilise a variety of therapeutic approaches. I have a particular interest in anxiety, low mood states and addictive behaviour. As a result I have been able to develop skills and resources to enable me deliver a therapeutic programme that facilitates an understanding of the root cause of emotional problems as well as the management of such issues. I work in a holistic fashion which nurtures strengths and individual potential.

Approach to treatment
I am of the professional opinion that therapist and client work closely and collaboratively. Hence, I work with my clients to create a bespoke recovery plan tailored to their individual needs. I strive to assist clients in expressing their hopes and fears in order for them to work towards their personal goals. My approach is person-centred and as such I integrate the practices of psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness and positive psychology. I offer cognitive behavioural interventions coupled with mindfulness as a powerful tool to control the negative emotions that underlie anxiety, depression and addictive patterns.
I have experience in dealing with addiction, drug and alcohol dependence, substance misuse, relapse prevention, supporting family members, co dependency, anxiety disorders, depression/low mood, self esteem issues and trauma.
