Biography

I am a trained integrative counsellor and psychotherapist with training in Person centred therapy, Cognitive behavioural therapy, Emotional freedom technique, Gestalt therapy, Transactional analysis and Interpersonal psychotherapy. I have over fourteen years’ experience supporting and developing individuals, couples and groups. I have been providing short and long term psychotherapy within the NHS, secondary schools and private organisations for six years. I come from a corporate background and worked for over five years in occupational health. I have been able to help many people with problems which are impacting their work, those who feel they are in the wrong job or struggling to juggle work with the rest of their lives. I understand the impact of work related stress, difficult working relationships, career transition, redundancy and retirement on personal wellbeing. I have a wealth of experience helping individuals to manage transition; shifting careers or priorities. I have extensive experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma and loss. I can work with you to eliminate the ongoing effects of trauma; panic attacks and flashbacks. I have helped individuals with a variety of addictions; alcohol, drugs, gambling and sexual.

Approach to treatment

I aim to tailor my support to your situation in tandem with your own strategies. I use evidence based approaches; I will share my approaches with you in order that you can use them to create coping strategies between and after therapy. I take a holistic approach to explore your physical and emotional well being. I tend to use short term solution focussed counselling of six to twelve sessions but can work longer term with certain conditions. I can be directive if it is appropriate. I take a flexible solution focussed approach and I am trained in numerous approaches in counselling and psychotherapy. I use evidence based approaches such as CBT to help identify and adapt unhelpful patterns of behaviour and I use EFT to help overcome phobias as well as remove limiting beliefs to improve self-esteem and performance at work.
